In the period when advertising graphics only started its way as a separate branch of art the municipalities and businessmen did not pay much attention to elements of urban environment that bore these advertising products. The main task for such constructions was meant to keep the advertising products safe and available. Thus, there appeared vertical stands with awnings where they placed newspapers and magazine articles.
As time went by there occurred the necessity to create new types of advertising carriers and to improve the old ones. It was connected with the application of new technologies in promotion design: illumination, dynamic scrolling constructions with change of pictures, opportunity to combine 3D letters with neon inscriptions. Today we are facing a new stage in the development of advertising carriers. Together with the necessity to provide comfort the outer appearance of the carriers started playing an important part. Integration of advertising and information signs into urban environment has become a task for architects and designers already on the designing stage. Now the architects have to plan and combine various types of street furniture (including advertising carriers) for creation of more comfortable environment with unified design. With this purpose they make diverse types of signs and information stands that can be integrated into urban environment. This can be unified elements as well as ones designed especially for the given architectural style.
